A century from Shamaine Campbell spearheaded Berbice to a massive 191-run win over Essequibo when the second round of the senior female Inter-county competition continued yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.
Campbell struck 123 and received support from Katana Mentore who scored 59 in the team’s total of 276-3 off their allotted 50 overs.
Kumarie Persaud grabbed 2-58 and Olivia O’Selmo 1-29.
In reply, Essequibo were 85-9 with Persaud’s 17 the top score. Jessica Gonsalves and Althea Newark each contributed 14. Erva Giddings grabbed 2-3 off five overs while Nekita Toney 2-19, Campbell 2-24, Mentore 1-5 and Sabrina Munroe 1-10 were the other wicket takers.
The competition continues tomorrow at the same venue with Demerara opposing Essequibo.
