Former Guyana Under-15 captain Harrinarine Chattergoon blasted a magnificent 126 and picked up three wickets for just nine runs as he led Albion Community Center to victory over Port Mourant ‘B’ when play in the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) organized 2009 Spready’s Bakery Under-19, 50-over cricket competition continued in the ancient county.
Chattergoon slammed 20 fours and two sixes during his 126-run onslaught at the crease and in the process became the fourth Chattergoon sibling after Hemnarine, Sewnarine and Ramnarine to score a century in a BCB-organized Under-19 club cricket tournament for Albion Community Centre.
A stylish 61 not out from Sahadeo Somai helped Albion amass a daunting 316 for 6 in just 35 overs and thanks to Chattergoon heroics with the ball, Port Mourant ‘B’ were out for just 58 runs. In scores from the matches played: At De Edward: De Edward beat Blairmont Community Centre by 55 runs.
The home side batted first and reached 143 in 30 overs with Derick Lalsa Jnr. 29, Devendra Lalsa 26. Bowling for Blairmont, Jumal Johnson bagged 3 for 29, Phillip Edwards 3 for 32, Ranel Frank 2 for 9 and Wazid Suban 2 for 37.
Blairmont Community Centre in their reply were all rattled out in 30.3 overs for only 88 runs with Daneshwar Ramkissoon being their highest scorer with 33 runs.
Sardat Harripaul and Devendra Lalsa were the chief wicket takers as they both finished with 2 for 15 and Daniel Sookraj 2 for 18.
At Rose Hall Town, Rose Hall Town Pepsi beat Rose Hall Town Metro by 83 runs.
Rose Hall Town Pepsi batting first reached 209 for 4 in 25, thanks to well played half centuries from Dominique Rickie and Nelroy Hicks who both scored 56 runs.
Rose Hall Town Metro could have only reached 126 and were all out in the 23rd over with Sundra Kissoonlall hitting 33 and Deion Moore 23. Bowling for the victors were Terrence Madramootoo who picked up 3 for 25 while Mark Fernandes had 2 for 15 and Lloydel Lewis 2 for 5.
