A 38-year-old labourer who used threatening language to his former wife was on Thursday remanded to prison when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Clinton Clarke, a labourer of 2 Carifesta Avenue pleaded guilty to the charge of threatening language when it was read to him by the acting chief magistrate.
On July 28 at Georgetown, Clarke made use of threatening language to Belinda Clarke resulting in a breach of the peace.
When given a chance to respond, the defendant told the court that he told the virtual complainant (VC), “People like yall is looking fuh people kill yall.”
The very apologetic defendant explained that he did not mean what he said, adding that he told her so because he was angry.
The VC said that she had divorced the defendant, a move he disliked. Since then, she said, the defendant has been calling and turning up at her residence making threats on her life.
The unrepresented Clarke was later remanded to prison until August 14.
