ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Reigning champions Jamaica will tackle Barbados in their opening game when the 2009 West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Senior Women’s Challenge Tournament starts mid-August in Guyana.
Jamaica and Barbados are in Zone A with St Lucia and Dominica while former champions Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and Grenada will contest Zone B.
On the opening day of the championship on August 15, Jamaica and Barbados will meet at Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) while ex-champions St Lucia play Dominica at Demerara Cricket Club (DCC).
Zone B matches bowl off on August 16 with T&T facing Guyana at Police and SVG meeting Grenada at Everest.
The semi-finals will be contested between the top two teams in each zone on August 22 at Everest and DCC Grounds with the two winners to meet in the final on August 23 at GCC.
Jamaica emerged champions ahead of T&T last year.
