Scottsburg United, Albion Community Centre through to quarter-finals
Scottsburg United and Albion Community Centre cricket clubs won their most recent preliminary matches to become the latest teams to reach the quarter-finals of the 2009 Spready’s Bakery Under-19, limited-overs competition in Berbice.
Scottsburg United registered comfortable wins over No. 70 Young Blood and Skeldon Community Centre respectively to end as winners of Zone D (Upper Corentyne) while Albion Community Centre, led by a five-wicket haul from former Guyana Under-15 medium pacer Sharmindra Hardyal, made very light work of Port Mourant `A’ to remain unbeaten in Zone C (Lower and Central Corentyne).

At No. 70, Scottsburg United beat No. 70 Young Blood by 136 runs.
Scottsburg United scored 186 in 33.1 overs with Trevor Thomas and R. Leitch each scoring 30 runs. Tamesh Persaud 4-44 and Narvin Gopaul 3-10 were the major wicket takers for No. 70 Young Blood who were all out 50.
Mark Lionel 5-10 and Marvin Harvey 3-18 were the principal wicket takers.
At No. 70, Scottsburg United defeated Skeldon Community Centre by six wickets.
Skeldon Community Centre, batting first, scored 121 in 27 overs.
Eric Angel top scored with 39 while Mark Lionel 2-12, Akeem Bowling, 2- 29 and Akram Razack 2 -33 were the main wicket takers.
Scottsburg United, in reply, raced to 122 -4 in just 18 overs with Trishan Ramsarran scoring 33. Delwin Maynard bagged 2-47.
At Port Mourant, Albion Community Centre beat Port Mourant `A’ by seven wickets.
Port Mourant `A’, were skittled out 46 in 15.1 overs with George Hughes top scoring with 16.
Sharmindra Hardyal 5-31 and Harrinarine Chattergoon 2-14 were the principal wicket takers.
Albion Community Centre reached their target (47) in just 10.1 overs but lost three wickets in the process. Manoj Pooranauth was the top scorer with 19.
At Port Mourant, Port Mourant `A’ beat Guysuco Training Centre (GTC) by 68 runs.
Port Mourant `A’, batting first scored 165 in 35 overs with Isaiah Brijadhar (29) and Kumar Tennessee (28) the top scorers.
Guysuco Training Centre (GTC) in reply was dismissed for 97 in 27.2 overs.
