Dear Editor,
In my opinion, it was a breath of fresh air with the Channel 7 broadcast over the last two weekends of NBC coverage of the 2009 Rome World Swimming Championships.
I hope that the local station will broadcast the 2009 Berlin World Championships from August 15-23.
We might witness some major upsets at the upcoming track and field games, but not in my wildest dreams did I expect to witness so many new world records being set in swimming, and Michael Phelps being beaten by the German sensation, Biedermann.
As much as I am a huge fan of Phelps, I don’t forsee him winning 8 gold medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
I base this on the performances of the Serbian, Milorad Cavic and another American sensation, Ryan Lochte, who was quite impressive.
I hope that the Guyana contingent will use the exposure of the competition to their advantage to boost their morale, which would benefit them when competing in regional championships in the near future.
Adams, Burnett and Pompey will be representing the Golden Arrowhead in a matter of days in Berlin.
They should have an exciting experience and keep the adrenalin pumping, even though they have stiff competition ahead of them.
Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
