KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Both Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago will be looking to gain ground on leaders Jamaica when the fourth round of the TCL Group West Indies One-Day Trophy Under-19 tournament bowls off today.
Rampant Jamaica have 12 points, having won all their matches to date and hold a four-point lead over Barbados and T&T, who have both won two and lost one.
Barbados and T&T will be hoping to win their matches today and also hope Jamaica stumble, in order to make up ground and set up an interesting final round tomorrow.
While Barbados clash with the Leeward Islands at Jamaica Broilers Ground, T&T will face the winless Windward Islands at Sabina Park.
Barbados will fancy their chances against the Leewards who have won just one match to date. They were beaten by the Leewards in the three-day phase of the tournament and will be anxious to revenge this defeat.
T&T, meanwhile, will be heavily fancied to beat the Windwards who have come up short on every occasion in the tournament.
Having stumbled at the final hurdle in the three-day format after leading for most of the competition, T&T have a renewed energy to win and Windwards can brace for a backlash.
Jamaica have the benefit of pole position and face a Guyana side who have won just one game in the series to date.
The hosts have carried their momentum from winning the three-day title into the one-day competition and will start as favourites against the erratic Guyanese.
If all three teams win today, the tournament will be decided in the last round but Jamaica could wrap up the title if both Barbados and T&T slip up.
