The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) yesterday announced that a four man team will represent Guyana in round two of the Caribbean Race of Champion Series which will held at the Bushy Park Circuit in Barbados on August 30.
Former champion driver in the series Andrew King will lead Kevin Jeffery, Gavin Gayadin and Stephen ‘Valentino Rossi’ Vieira on a bid to improve Guyana’s performance at the championships after a miserable showing last year.
Barbados’ Stuart Maloney is the defending champion. The exhorbitant cost of air fare and shipping for the team’s trip to Barbados has caused the GMR&SC to put together a family fun day and go-kart racing which is set for this Saturday at their clubhouse, Albert Street, Thomas Lands.
The day according to the GMR&SC will be set around having families come out and enjoy some go-kart racing and a chance to win prizes compliments of GT&T Cellink Plus.
Andrew King’s Tube Frame MazdaRX7, Gavin Gayadin’s BMW E36, Kevin Jeffery’s Mitsubishi Evolution and Stephen Vieira’s 2008 Suzuki GSX600 will also be on show for public viewing.
The club says that since they are looking for maximum support, they will be charging just
$200 for entrance to the venue where barbequed meats will also be on sale.
