Nicole Anderson who allegedly had a firearm and ammunition in his possession at the Cuyuni River Backdam without licence was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
He is also accused along with others on narcotics charges.
It is alleged that on July 31 at the Cuyuni River Backdam, Anderson had in his possession a Smith and Wesson .38 Special revolver without licence.
On the same day at the Cuyuni River Back Dam also, the said Anderson is alleged to have had in his possession five .38 live rounds without licence.
Anderson pleaded not guilty to the charges of possession of firearm and ammunition without licence when they were read to him by the magistrate.
Despite his request to be granted bail, the unrepresented defendant was remanded to prison.
His matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for November 2.
Meanwhile the said Anderson and Sydney Fraser who allegedly had a quantity of cannabis in their possession on July 31 at the Cuyuni River Backdam were yesterday remanded to prison when they appeared before Magistrate Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
The men pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking when it was read to them by the magistrate.
Despite pleading with the magistrate to be admitted to bail, the duo was remanded to prison.
They were ordered to attend the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on November 2.
And in another matter, Anderson and Kelvin Singh pleaded not guilty to two counts of possession of narcotics when it was read to them by Magistrate Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on July 31 at the Cuyuni River Backdam, Anderson and Singh had in their possession 4 grams of cannabis. On the same day at the Cuyuni River Backdam also, the two are alleged to have had in their possession four grams of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Anderson and Singh made an application to be granted bail.
The prosecution, however, objected to the bail request and asked that the matters be transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
The unrepresented duo was later granted $30,000 bail each on the cannabis possession charge and remanded on the cocaine trafficking charge.
They were then ordered to attend the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on November 2.
