Power Raffle, a television game show touted as setting the standard for game show entertainment, has been launched.
According to a press release, Power Raffle is the brainchild of overseas-based Guyanese Veronique Hollingsworth and Dr Gordon John.
It will be broadcast on the National Communications Network (NCN), and will involve viewers sending text messages in order to compete for daily prizes in a grand draw.
Persons wishing to compete for prizes can enter by texting the word “power” to 1445 from a Digicel mobile during a live draw. The hostess will then select a number using RUS or Random Number Selector and the competitor will be challenged to answer the daily question. If it is answered correctly the person wins the daily prize.
According to the release, co-creator John stated “it is our intention to create a highly competitive game show that all Guyanese can enjoy playing. The prizes will be useful, valuable items that anyone can appreciate.” He said the idea for Power Raffle was born from his love of game shows, and the longing to give back in a meaningful way to his country of birth.
Meanwhile, Digicel Marketing Direc-tor, Donovan White said “Digicel is pleased to partner with this innovative and unique venture which intends to raise the bar on local game show entertainment. We applaud the efforts of the show’s creators and would like to encourage all Guyanese to participate in what plans to be a unique and new experience for Guyana.” Digicel Guyana is the official mobile phone partner of the show.
Power Raffle premiered yesterday at 07:25 hrs. There was a rebroadcast of the daily question at 14:30 hrs and 16:55 hrs and the live Grand Draw was scheduled for 21:35 hrs yesterday.
