A Soesdyke teenager was on Friday adjudged the first winner of the new game show Power Raffle.
According to a press release, 16-year-old Jonnell Decunha won for herself the grand prize of a brand new entertainment set.
Decunha won her prize on the live Power Raffle draw which was aired on NCN. She responded correctly to the question, “which ethnic group does the Caribbean take its name from.”
According to the release, speaking at the presentation ceremony yesterday, an elated Decunha said that after hearing that she won, she was so excited she could not sleep.
Co-creator of the show Veronique Hollingsworth said she hopes the entertainment set brings joy to the winner and her family. She said also, that the aim is to get all of Guyana playing Power Raffle so that one person can be a winner every night.
Power Raffle is a television game show hosted by Onica Harrison and is presented in four segments from Monday to Friday. The first segment in which the daily power raffle question and daily prize are revealed is aired on NCN at 7:25 hrs and rebroadcast at 14:30 hrs and 16:55 hrs. The final segment is a live draw at 21:35 hrs on NCN channel 11.
Viewers who wish to compete for the daily prize can text the word POWER to 1445 from a Digicel mobile. This qualifies the viewer as a competitor during the live draw. The hostess will select one number using “RUS” or random number selector. That viewer will be challenged to answer the daily question and if successful, wins the prize instantly.
