Patrick Prashad returned to winners’ row when he won last Saturday’s Demerara Mutual sponsored Medal Play Golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club.
Prashad, who has had a lean season so far, recorded a net 67 from a gross 74 playing off a seven handicap.
Mike Guyadin, who recently participated in the Barbados Open, was the runner-up with a net 69 from a gross 86 playing off a handicap of 17.
National ladies’ champion Christine Sukhram captured the third place with a net 71 from a gross 77 playing off a seven handicap.
Albert Russell won the prize for Nearest to the Pin.
Officials of the LGC expressed gratitude to Demerara Mutual for their continued support in sponsoring tournaments annually and expressed the wish that the insurance company would continue its support in the future.
Meanwhile, the top three finishers are expected to be among a list of more than 20 golfers traveling to neighbouring Suriname for the RBTT Suriname Open Golf championships.
The latest players who have indicated their interest in competing in the neighbouring republic are William Walker and Gavin Todd.
The list also includes Clifford Reis, Ian Gouveia and Alfred Mentore.
