Dear Editor,
I refer to your letter captioned ‘Pensioner told by NIS Office that records showed he was dead’ which appeared in Stabroek News dated Monday, July 27, 2009.
When allegations, complaints and comments are made, we always reiterate that the names, National Insurance numbers and addresses be given to us so that the situation can be dealt with expeditiously. In the case of the letter written by Rev Gideon Cecil, this was not done.
Efforts to contact Rev Cecil at the telephone number listed under his name proved futile.
An e-mail was also sent to the e-mail address supplied by this publication.
The management of NIS, Guyana, would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused via this allegation, and would be grateful for any additional information to have this matter corrected.
Yours faithfully,
Nicole Seepaul Petrie
Assistant Publicity and Public Relations
Officer National Insurance,
Guyana
