PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – West Indies wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin is Trinidad and Tobago’s “International Cricketer of the Year”.
Ramdin copped the bog prize at the 53rd annual prize awards ceremony of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) on Saturday night at the President’s House in the city. The right-handed batsman and vice-captain of the West Indies team, who scored his maiden Test hundred (166) against England in their fourth Test in Barbados in March, copped the award ahead of all-rounder Darren Bravo.
Ramdin also led the side in the Twenty20 international against England in March.
Former West Indies youth batsman Adrian Barath was named ‘Senior Cricketer of the Year, ahead of T&T’s captain Daren Ganga, Bravo, West Indies batsman Lendl Simmons and all-rounder Imran Khan.
West Indies Under-19 selectee, Yannic Cariah captured The ‘Youth Cricketer of the Year’ title for the 2009 season.
Several special awards were presented during the night’s function including the recognition of regional umpire Terrence Birbal.
Well–known administrator, Rambhai Patel received the President’s award for his effort in revitalizing the Central Zone of the T&T Cricket Board in 2009.
PowerGen Sports Club of South Trinidad emerged as the ‘Club of the Year’ while Tarrandath Sammy was named ‘Administrator of the Year’.
