A team of 10 persons from the Guyana Karate College departed yesterday to represent Guyana at the eighth International Shotokan Karate Federation/ Caribbean Karate College (ISFK/CKC) championships commencing Thursday and ending Monday in St. Lucia.
The team will be headed by Canadia-based Guyanese Master Frank Woon-A-Tai who has been carrying out a number of grading exercises, most recently in Essequibo at the Anna Regina Multilateral School (ARMS) Dojo.
He will be accompanied to the five-day event by chairman of the college, Sensei Chetram Mortley and senior instructor Jeffrey Wong. A release from the Wong, accompanying instructors and students of the Guyana Karate College stated that they wished to thank LIAT Airlines, Banks DIH Ltd, Sleep In Guest House, Japarts, Sterling Products Ltd., Caribbean International Distributors Inc., Guyana Geology and Mines Commission, Noble House Seafood’s, Genesis Early Childhood, Meditron Scientific Sales, C & V Caribbean Shipping Ltd. and other individuals for their donations which assisted in the team being able to travel to the championships.
