Trudy, Tracy and Trina Vanlonge, triplets from Rupertee Village in the Rupununi, Region Nine, visited Guyana’s capital for the first time yesterday and met Prime Minister Samuel Hinds who is at present performing the duties of President, according to a release from the Government Information Agency.
The Guyana Relief Council – headed by the PM’s wife Yvonne Hinds – began providing assistance in the form of groceries, footwear and clothing to the family in 1997 during the El Nino phenomenon. The triplets were just three months old at the time. This support has been ongoing since then and was highlighted by the sponsoring of their tour to the city.
the girls recently wrote the National Grade Six Assess-ment examinations and during the visit to the Prime Minister’s office, GRC’s Shelter Administrator Donald Mentis and Welfare convenor Rohini Bonar spoke of their performance.
During their stay in Georgetown the girls, through the help of the GRC, will be visiting several prominent locations, all geared at giving them meaningful exposure.
