The search continued yesterday for ten-year-old Ricky Ramnarine- who has been missing following a boat accident on the Essequibo River on Monday night in which his father and another man died, but nothing was recovered.
There was also no trace of the other boat that was involved in the accident. After searches throughout yesterday, up to late afternoon, the lad had not been found, relatives said. Ramnarine, his father Jainarine Dinanauth, 45, of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo and Henry Gibson, 45, of Hog Island, Essequibo River were in the boat when the incident occurred.
The bodies of Dinanauth and Gibson were discovered in the shattered wooden boat, which was drifting just off the eastern side of Hog Island at about 9:30 am on Tuesday. Ricky was missing.
Police had said that their investigations had revealed that the trio left the Parika Stelling at about 6:30 pm on Monday for Hog Island in a wooden boat. After he had not made contact with her, Dinanauth’s reputed wife began making enquiries and subsequently formed a search party with the assistance of public-spirited persons, the police stated. They eventually found the bodies of Dinanauth and Gibson, which bore injuries, in the badly damaged boat.
A post-mortem examination performed on the body of Dinanauth revealed that he died by drowning.
