Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Thursday granted $100,000 bail to an Alexander Village man accused of stealing a man’s bag which contained $100,000.
Earl Williams of Second Street, denied the charge of simple larceny when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. He is accused of stealing $100,000; property of Derick Persaud on August 11.
Police Prosecutor Munilall Seetaram told the court that Persaud had the money in a haversack which he had put in a minibus. He said while Persaud was unloading his goods the accused took the bag out of the vehicle and escaped. Williams was later arrested but the money was not recovered.
Williams was ordered to appear in Court Three on October 9.
