Dear Editor,
I saw in today’s papers, Chairman of the GPL, my good friend, Bharrat Dindyal lamenting the difficulties of filling key vacancies. This could certainly qua1ify for a ‘believe it or not’ page.
One personal experience: My daughter returned to this country, a President’s College graduate with a first class degree from a US university, and after several efforts to serve her country of birth, she was sent to Guysuco to work under a person who had only a secondary education. Frustrated like so many others she is now giving her skills elsewhere.
Was her name an impediment? And are we serious after seventeen years of a ‘return to democracy’ to have Guyanese return to serve.
I empathize with the Chairman of GPL, but the fault may be with our rulers.
Yours faithfully,
Hamilton Green JP
