Guyana’s table tennis team to the fourth annual Pre-Juniors and Cadet tournament enjoyed mixed fortunes as the teams’ competition got underway yesterday at the Wlldey Gymnasium in Barbados.

The U-13 girls team of Chelsea Edghill, Akeila Wiltshire and Olivia Weekes defeated their Jamaican counterparts 3-1 while the U-13 boys’ team of Sunil Logan, Jamaal Duff and Joseph Johnson eased past St Kitts 3-0.
The U-10 boys’ team of Elishaba Johnson, Kyle Edghill and Rajiv Muneshwar completed a hard-fought 3-2 victory of Trinidad and Tobago while the U-10 girls team of Priscilla Greaves and Jamaali Homer despite being a player short, battled gamely before going down to Trinidad and Tobago 2-3.
Later the U-13 boys’ team was beaten 3-0 by Puerto Rico.
Over 100 players from several Caribbean countries are participating in the tournament.
