Guyana could end up with a gold medal in the boy’s U10 team events at this year’s fourth annual Pre-Juniors and Cadet table tennis championships now underway in Barbados.
According to general secretary of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Godfrey Munroe, the team led by Eilshaba `Shabba’ Johnson defeated Puerto Rico on Monday night 3-2 with Johnson picking up two wins and Kyle Edghill one.
Yesterday they defeated Santo Domingo 3-2 with Johnson again picking up two wins and Edghill the decider.
Santo Domingo who arrived belatedly was allowed to play after an emergency meeting with the managers and coaches of the respective teams.
Guyana’s U13 girls’ team yesterday defeated Trinidad 3-2 but the U13 boys’ team lost to Santo Domingo 0-3.
