Rain played the role of ‘show stopper’ at the Police Sports Club Ground as it washed out the 50-over match between the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Wednesday.
The game got underway after a ceremonial bowl by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bharrat Jagdeo.
GDF won the toss and elected to field as the lawmen made full use of their opportunity to bat first getting up to a total of 158 for the loss of three wickets in the 32nd over before a downpour halted play.
The rainfall made the ground unfit to further carry on the game which was eventually postponed.
The match will be replayed on Sunday at the same venue.
