-as road accidents pile up
Doddy Latchman was the victim of a freak accident last Friday when he was hit in the head with a piece of lumber.
Latchman, 39, of 104 Kuru Kuru, Linden Highway, was reportedly crossing the public road when a piece of lumber from a passing truck fell and hit him in the head. He was subsequently admitted as a patient in the Male Surgical ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), according to a news release issued by the institution yesterday.
On Saturday, Stephen Warrick, 52, of 20 Bagotsville, West Bank Demerara, was taken to the Accident and Emergency Unit after he reportedly drove his car into a concrete wall and sustained injury to his head and left leg. After the accident, which occurred at around 4am, he was admitted to the Male Surgical ward.
Meanwhile, Surydeo Chooto, 28, of 230 Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara was taken to the Accident and Emergency unit of the GPH, after he was reportedly involved in an accident on the Non Pariel Public road on Sunday. The hospital said he sustained injuries to his face after the accident and was admitted as a patient to the Male Surgical Ward.
Sadik Azeez, 18, of 18 Craig East Bank Demerara was also admitted as a patient to the hospital Sunday, after reportedly being involved in an accident. The teen sustained injuries to his right foot after being involved in an accident and was taken to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the GPH. He was subsequently admitted as a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
