The Ministry of Health on Monday donated bicycles to 13 junior medical personnel from China attached to the Linden hospital.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release the volunteers will be serving a one-year attachment to the hospital. Minister within the Ministry of Health, Dr Bheri Ramsaran presented the cycles to five volunteers on Monday in the ministry’s compound. He noted that this is the second batch of Chinese volunteers serving in Guyana.
GINA said the five, along with eight others who are in China on leave and are scheduled to return, will make up the team of 13. The volunteers arrived in Guyana on August 15. They hail from Nanjing China Volunteers group. They started duties yesterday.
The ministry is providing accommodation that is located some distance away from the hospital therefore the gift of bicycles will be useful.
