-Licence office
Motor vehicle registration is moving at a rapid pace, according to the Licence Revenue Office (LRO), which is reporting that a record 9,999 vehicles were registered in the ‘LL’ series by August 10, 2009.
According to a statement from the Office of the Commissioner General, to date 333 vehicles have already been registered in the ‘MM’ series. The statement quoted LRO Senior Manager Sean Richmond.
It noted that motor vehicle registration continues to be ongoing at a rapid pace, with 408 vehicles registered during the first half of August, while 973 were registered in the preceding month. Additionally, 501 transfers of vehicle registrations were also processed.
Addressing licencing, the statement noted that 2,601 motor vehicle licences were renewed at the LRO during the first half of August. This is an indication that a numbers of persons waited to purchase their annual revenue licence after the extended deadline, it noted. Further, it added that the Guyana Revenue Authority is working assiduously to ensure the full computerisation of its operations to ensure taxpayers’ satisfaction through the provision of a more efficient service.
