Lennox O’Dean, the RK’s security guard who was discovered bleeding two Tuesdays ago at Regent Street and Avenue of the Republic, died from hemorrhaging due to multiple stab wounds, according to a post-mortem examination.
O’Dean, of Melanie Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, had just disembarked a route 40 minibus at Regent Street and Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown when he was reportedly stabbed in the neck by a man who then escaped in a waiting car.
The incident occurred at approximately 8.30 pm and it was not initially clear what had happened to O’Dean. Stabroek News had learnt from a police source that the man was discovered by a traffic rank, amid a crowd, bleeding at the location that night. O’Dean was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he died while receiving medical attention.
Relatives had reported that the person who discovered O’Dean lying at the Georgetown location had also reportedly witnessed the attack on the man. A senior police source had reported that the force was not aware that someone had witnessed what happened and was calling on that person to come in and give a statement. The fatal attack was the third on O’Dean in recent months.
Senior Superintendent John Sauers, currently responsible for Police Public Relations, confirmed that O’Dean bled to death as a result of multiple stab wounds. This was revealed by a post-mortem examination conducted on the man’s body on August 27.
