According to Head of the Department of Physical Education Unit of Allied Arts in the Ministry of Education, Nicholas Fraser, only 13 schools countrywide have implemented the Physical Education (PE) programme.
Fraser noted that many of the schools did not have the personnel to implement the programme but was adamant that this initiative would aid the process of implementation.
He said that teachers from 30 schools will attend the workshop adding that the ministry was looking to increase the number from the initial 13 teachers that were used to conduct the other programmes.
The clinic will target Physical Education teachers from Education Districts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and Georgetown.
In addition, the GVF has employed the services of persons who will assist in the implementation of the school-level programmes from other areas, inclusive of region Nine Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo.
This is the second workshop organised by the Unit of Allied Arts in the area of Physical Education and Sport this year.
A table tennis workshop was organised in collaboration with the NSC and the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) last July 7-11 which targeted the same pool of Physical Education teachers.
