Rohan Dossi, 38,  also called ‘Snow white’ of Leguan, Essequibo River pleaded not guilty to one charge of possession of narcotics and another of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s court.

Dossi denied that on August 29, at Parika Public Road, East Bank Essequibo, he had 10 grammes of cannabis in his possession. He also denied that on the same day and at the same place he had nine grammes of cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Dossi’s attorney James Bond said his client is currently the sole breadwinner of his family and that on his father’s death three months ago he assumed care for his 70-year-old mother who is ill. He said too his client is “a simple man” and due to this “the substances were unwittingly given to him by someone to deliver to Leguan.” Bond said “being a simple man he did not check the container to see what was inside.”

Dossi was subsequently bailed in the sum of $40, 000 for the possession charge and remanded for the trafficking charge. He was then ordered to appear in the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
