The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Monday handed out bursary awards to 20 children of various staff members in honour of their achievements at the National Grade Six Assessment.
In a press release the GRA said the awardees were given certificates and their parents received cheques on their behalf. Head of the Human Resources Division Archana Joshi, Deputy Head of VAT and ET Operations Bridget Abraham and Senior Manager of Training and Development Division Janet Abbensetts encouraged the students to continue to strive for excellence.
The honorees are Aliyyah Abdul-Kadir, Daniel Basdeo, Deandrea Cummings, Akeelie Craigwell, Saskeia Haynes, Akeem Henry, Shaniah July, Anuli Tudor, Assiyah Usuff, Rolanda Greene, Christina Mahadeo, Dornel Dawson, Tia Campbell, Liza Rover, Joel Matthias, Ayanna Grant, Darren Marks, Alyssa Griffith, Mariah Barclay and Rachida Greene.
The GRA instituted bursary awards since 2001 to promote closer ties with its staff. To date over 130 students have benefited from this exercise. The bursary is for a five-year period but students must be promoted to another class to be eligible for continued benefits from the programme.
The ceremony was hosted in the training room of the Trade Administration and Customs House at Main Street.
