The Office of the President has expressed condolences to the family and friends of Mrs Doreen Chung, wife of the late President of Guyana Mr Arthur Chung, who passed away on Saturday. She was 77.
According to a release from the Government Information Agency, Mrs Chung died on
Saturday afternoon at a city hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs Chung served as First Lady during her husband’s presidency from 1970-80; the couple was married for 54 years. Former President Chung passed away last June.
A relative of the late Former First Lady told Stabroek News yesterday that her relatives and friends are expected in the country this week for her funeral which is still being arranged. Those arrangements will be announced sometime this week.
Mrs Chung leaves to mourn two children -Diane Pamela and Raymond Arthur (Jnr) – as well as numerous relatives and friends.
