The Ministry of Health conducted a medical outreach exercise at the Mazaruni Prison two Saturdays ago.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release the team comprised two Medexes, a physician, a dentist and a nurse. The team conducted check-ups and discussed health issues affecting inmates and staff members. Ninety-four persons benefited from the outreach. Nineteen tooth extractions and 34 eye examinations were done among other general checks that included blood pressure and diabetes testing.
Medex Theresa Moore said that outreach exercise was a success and the services were welcomed by the inmates and staff.
She said persons who were examined had no serious illnesses and that the medical outreach will be conducted monthly.
