The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) said power supply on the West Coast Demerara has improved since Sunday when it returned a fifth generator to service.
In a press release the company said the machine was expected to be returned to service on Thursday last, but was restored on Sunday instead. GPL said it expected to add a further 1.6 MW generator to the Versailles plant by Wednesday evening which would have ensured some spare capacity.
The other initiatives to boost power transfer from Garden of Eden and better regulate voltage on the West Coast are on schedule. The company again appeals to the public to conserve electricity.
