Berbicians would be treated to a parachute jumping display by the Guyana Defence Force when the Rose Hall Town Anniversary Committee kicks off celebrations for its 39th anniversary tomorrow at the Area ‘H’ Ground.
The display will commence at 4 pm and there will also be a demonstration by the majorettes from Kildoonan Village.
The event is being coordinated by the Rose Hall Town Anniversary & Development Committee and the Rose Hall Town Interim Management Committee under the theme: ‘Much Refined at 39 in 2009’.
According to the committee’s Public Relations Officer Andrew Griffith, there would also be a fitness walk against domestic violence at 6.30 am from the University of Guyana, Tain Campus to Independence Arch at Rose Hall Town.
The celebrations for the day would continue with a softball cricket competition at 9.30 am at the ground along with a family fun day.
The following day there would be a “praise and worship service” at the Independence Arch and all churches are invited to be a part of this event.
Griffith said that on September 23 there would be a spelling bee competition at the Rose Hall Town Primary at 1 pm involving Tain, Rose Hall Town, Belvedere and Port Mourant primary schools.
And to coincide with Education Month, five teachers would be honoured on September 25 for their outstanding services at an Awards Ceremony.
The next day, non-governmental organizations and companies would have a chance to showcase their products and services at the street fair and exhibition followed by an “after-party” at the Area ‘H’ Ground.
The events conclude September 27 with a beach party at the Rose Hall Town beach. Griffith promised that adequate security by the Guyana Police Force would be provided at all of the events.
