Berbice have slight edge after first day
Berbice had a slight edge against the Rest Team at stumps on day one of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Senior Four-day Inter–County competition which bowled off yesterday at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, Quenstown.
At stumps, the rest Team, replaying to Berbice’s first innings score of 205 all out were 147-6 with Alex Amsterdam (14) and Sauid Drepaul (0) the not out batsmen.
Trevon Griffith led the way for the Rest Team top scoring with a fine innings of 61.
His innings, laced with seven fours and two sixes, was the backbone of the innings.
Griffith, who along with Ryan Ramdass had posted 42 runs for the first wicket received support from Vishal Singh, 21 and Derwin Christian and Dion Ferrier who both contributed 18.
Versammy Premaul was the pick of the Berbice bowlers with 2 – 14 while leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo grabbed 2 – 36.
Narsingh Deonarine and Esaun Crandon picked up one wicket each for 15 and 20 runs respectively.
Earlier, Berbice skipper Assad Fuddadin top scored for his side with 41 which included five fours and one six while Premaul struck seven fours in his unbeaten innings of 37.
Sewnarine Chattergoon and Fudadin posted a 68-run partnership.
Chattergoon made 30 while Homchand Pooran chipped in with 23.
Sauid Drepaul and Dion Ferrier were superb with the ball both grabbing three wickets for 47 and 27 runs respectively while Steven Latcha pitched in by bagging 2 – 43.
