A 30-year-old man who allegedly robbed another man at gunpoint of a gold band, among other items, was granted $75,000 bail yesterday when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Deon Davidson of Castello Housing Scheme pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery under arms.
He denied that on June 17, he used a gun to rob Keon Barrow of a gold band, among other items, totalling $288,000 in value.
Davidson stated that Barrow was jealous of him and so he brought the false allegation against him. The accused said that Barrow had become jealous when he began a friendship with a girl that he also knew.
He said that since the friendship started Barrow began accusing him of stealing different things from him. “I never rob he,” stated Davidson.
Meanwhile, Barrow, who was also present in court, stated “this is de guy that rob me.” He said that on the day in question he had just disembarked a bus when Davidson and another man approached him.
He said Davidson took out a gun and pointed it at him while the other man robbed him of the articles. Davidson and the other man then fled the scene.
The magistrate subsequently granted Davidson bail in the sum of $75,000 and ordered that the case be transferred to Court Three for October 21.
