Dear Editor,
Allow me to congratulate both you and your reporter for opening up a window through which we have been enlightened about life on the streets. This is because of the recent features (in recognition of Child Protection Week) about children who have been rescued from the streets and given another chance within society.
The stories were all touching and I am certain in future would attract sympathy as we so often reject outstretched hands. And I am reminded of Khalil Gibran’s poem on charity which runs:
The coin which you drop into
The withered hand stretching toward
You is the only golden chain that
Binds your rich heart to the
Loving heart of God.
The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security through the efforts of Minister Priya Manickchand must also be recognized for the introduction of a much needed service.
Yours faithfully,
