GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago continued their build up to next month’s lucrative Champions League Twenty20 tournament in India with another convincing win against Guyana Daredevils on Saturday evening.
Coming off a 28-run victory the previous day, T&T flogged the Guyanese again in their backyard, winning by 56 runs after they posted 203 for five and restricted Guyana to 147 for seven to complete a sweep of the two-match series at the Guyana National Stadium.
West Indies wicket-keeper and man-of-the-match Denesh Ramdin hit a boundary-studded 54 off 27 balls with three sixes and five fours to propel T&T’s innings.
He received valuable support from opener Lendl Simmons with a steady 39, including seven boundaries.
Ramdin also featured in an entertaining 89-run sixth-wicket stand with Kieron Pollard, who smashed two sixes and four fours in a 27-ball 36 before he was caught at deep long off, attacking the off-spinner Deon Ferrier.
Ramdin, who found the gaps to perfection, also adeptly rotated the strike on a relatively fast outfield before he was bowled by Ferrier at 179 for five in the penultimate over.
Opener William Perkins hit 22, while Dwayne Bravo (18) and Adrian Barath (19) also bolstered the innings.
Ferrier ended with two for 27 from his allotted four overs, while medium pacer Christopher Barnwell finished with two for 54 off four overs. Leg-spinner Troy Gonsalves (1-14) claimed the other wicket.
