The Government Analyst Food and Drug Department has voluntarily recalled selected lots of pharmaceuticals as a precautionary measure owing to the extreme possibility of foreign matter contamination.
According to a press release the drugs recalled are APO-Amilzide 5-50mg tablets with batch numbers JD5858, JF0078, JD5863, JD5864 and JF0079; APO-Meloxicam 7.5mg and 15mg tablets with batch numbers JD4927 and JD4929; and APO-Ranitidine 150mg tablets bearing batch numbers HM5503 and HL7558.
The recall comes after the Food and Drug Department received information from Health Canada that Apotex Inc, a prescription drug manufacturer.
The release called on all importers, pharmacies and health care providers to surrender the said batches of APO-Amilzide, APO-Meloxicam and APO-Ranitidine to the Department.
