Safraz XI defeated Trophy Stall XI of East Coast by five wickets in a close match with Shaheed Gittens contributing 66 in Safraz XI’s response of 163-9 made by Trophy Stall in the quarterfinals of the Mike’s Pharmacy 15-over countrywide softball competition organized by the Guyana Softball League (GSL).
Richard Latiff also made a polished 53 for Safraz XI who reached 164-5 off the last ball of the 15th over. After Trophy Stall XI won the toss and elected to bat they posted 163-9 in their 15 overs with Mark Harold making 47 while Arjune Persaud took 4-13 for Safraz XI. Gary Singh was the chief wicket taker for Trophy Stall with figures of 3-26 from 3 overs.
At the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) ground Country Side XI defeated Rockets XI by 45 runs. Country Side XI batted first and scored 141-9 in 15 overs with Leon Deebra making 34 and Sakichand Jagdeo scoring 25. Narine Hardat took 3-20 and Arnold Rambarran 2-15 from 3 overs. Rockets XI, in reply, were limited to 96 all out in 13 overs.
Surujpaul Omar made 25 while Steve Ramkellawan took 3-15 from 3 overs and Kumar Bissoondial 2-20 from 3 overs.

Ogle ground: Pitch # 1: Safraz XI defeated Takers XI of East Bank by a massive 124 runs.
Pitch # 2: Rangers XI of West Coast gained a walkover from Belle Plain XI of Wakenaam and will now take on Superstreet XI of West Coast this weekend in the second knockout stage.
Wolf’s Warriors XI defeated All Stars XI of Wakenaam and will now take on Shattaville XI of West Coast in the second knockout stage.
Diamond Superstars defeated Street Boys XI by 8 wickets.
Country Side XI of East Coast Demerara defeated Diamond Superstars by 9 wickets.

Whim Ground: Water World XI defeated Rocketeers XI by 6 wickets.
Whim United XI defeated Rocketeers XI by 22 runs.

Meanwhile Berbice will determine their two quarter finalists this weekend when the remaining rounds are played. Essequibo have already determined their quarter finalists with present countrywide champions Die Hard XI, In the Mix and United Brothers XI playing unbeaten so far.
