BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – West Indies returned to the Caribbean last evening following their winless ICC Champions Trophy campaign in South Africa.
The squad arrived at Grantley Adams International around 2:30 pm following their flight from London.
With no media personnel present to welcome the bruised Windies, local players made their way home while the regional players took connecting flights to their respective countries.
The squad left Johannesburg on Thursday night after losing the final match of the group phase, a seven-wicket defeat to India at The Wanderers on Wednesday.
West Indies, depleted by the loss of their elite players because of the ongoing contracts dispute, lost their two opening matches to Pakistan and Australia in Group A and finished without a point.
Several of the players will now look forward to the Windward and Leeward Islands tournament scheduled for later this month, before turning their attention to the regional limited overs championship in Guyana at month end.
The next overseas assignment for the regional side will be the three-Test tour of Australia beginning in November.
