West Indies youth selectee Trevon Griffith struck a magnificent century as the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) outplayed the Transport Sports Club (TSC) in the final of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Zone Hand-in-Hand 40 overs tournament at the DCC ground on Saturday.
Griffith made a breezy 105 that included five fours and three sixes as DCC accumulated 166 all out from 35 overs. The team’s only other significant scorer was Matthew Marks with 29 as TSC’s Azim Azeez ripped through the batting line-up with 4-30. He was supported by Imtiaz Pooran with 2-25.
TSC was dismissed for 137 in 32.2 overs falling short of the target by 29 runs.
Rawle Enmore top scored for his team with 40 while Kerwin Gittens added 21 and Stephen Alves and Stephen Sampson contributed 15 runs each.
Kevin George and Gladwin Brandis were the chief wicket-takers with 2-21 and 2-35 respectively.
DCC’s next assignment will be to contest in the Demerara semifinal of the tournament at a date to be announced.
