PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Barbadian youngster Antoinette Riley has smashed her way to the Tobago Open Junior Table Tennis Championship Under-13 crown at the Scarborough Secondary School. In the final, Riley defeated Trinidad and Tobago’s Brittany Joseph 11-7, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7 to claim her age-group honour. T&T national players Orell Cooper and Catherine Spicer won two singles titles each. The 13-year-old Spicer captured the Girls’ Under-15, and 18 crowns while Cooper copped top honours in the U18 and U15 Boys’ divisions. Spicer, a double bronze medal winner in doubles at the recent World Junior Circuit in Canada, whipped Brittany Joseph 11-9, 11-4, 11-9 in the U15 final and edged Ashley Quashie 12-10, 3-11, 2-11, 11-8, 11-8 for the U18 crown.
Marc Pillai won the U10 Boy’s category when he overwhelmed Rishi Rajkumar 11-3, 11-6, 11-5 while Danielle Dick won the Girl’s equivalent.Quashie won the Under-21 Women’s competition after she whipped Ambica Sitram 11-2, 11-8, 11-6 in the final. In the U21 Men’s championship match, Everton Sorzano came from two-sets down to beat Caribbean age-group runner-up Yuvraj Dookram 6-11, 6-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-6.
