The Guyana Tape ball Federation and the Guyana Softball League (GSL) is hosting the Power Stout 6-over Tape-ball tournament on Thursday.
The organizers of the 50-team tournament: Shane Austin and Kurt Wilson told Stabroek Sport that the tournament will be played in a round robin format in two zones and teams will be required to pay a $10.000 registration fee. Registration closed yesterday.
The organisers said the top team is expected to cart off $100,000 and a trophy. The runners-up will pocket $25,000 and a trophy that will also be sponsored by Giftland Office Max. Wilson said that letters of participation have been sent to some teams affiliated to the two associations. He said that there will be six games per night at the Banks DIH Thirst Park ground but balls will only be provided for the semi-finals. The tournament is expected to run for six weeks. Admission is free of cost.
