The Ansa McAl sponsored 2009 Mackeson East Coast Demerara Premier League Football Tournament continues today at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda with a double header.
In the curtain raiser at 5:00pm Golden Stars will go head to head with Bakewell Buxton Stars while Ann’s Grove United will clash with Victoria Kings in the feature game at 7:00pm.
In the first encounter Golden Stars will be led by Randy King who will be looking for support from Kwesi Halley, Jermaine Spencer and Seon Segarant while Buxton will be led by Sherwin Griffith, and he should get valuable support from Bobby Barnwell and Tyrone Warren.
The feature game will see the Victoria Kings seeking to redeem themselves after suffering four defeats in the National Super League. They have won not won the tournament since being dethroned in 2007 after their eight consecutive titles and are hoping for a good start to the round.
They will be led by national under-20 players Calvin De Souza with the likes of Andrew Holder, Samuel Blackette, Kwesi De Souza, Donald Lutchman, Orin and Shawn Samuels
Ann’s Grove on the other hand are not expected to take a casual approach to the opposition since the boys from “Punters” are known for their fitness and should give Kings a rough night.
To lead them to a win Dwayne Rogers, Levin Adams, national under-20 middle fielder Kevin Barry and Helton Adams will have to be in sync with their team members to have smooth play on their side.
