The Guyana Relief Council (GRC) recently provided assistance to three families who suffered losses due to fire.
In a press release the GRC said it assisted Naressa Solomon, from a family of six of Triumph, East Coast Demerara (ECD); Tiffany LaMazon from a family of three of Samatta Point, Grove and Subrina Joseph, from a family of four of Lusignan, ECD.
Meanwhile, the GRC said its Welfare Committee donated cleaning agents, a mattress and groceries to the family of Susan D’Anjou whose home was affected in the recent Regent Street fire which destroyed three businesses. It also gave assurances to the other families that suffered that it stands ready to provide any needed assistance.
Additionally, the GRC said for the year it has assisted 48 cases comprising 220 persons who suffered due to fire; 112 welfare cases; four hinterland welfare cases; three instances where high winds caused damage comprising nine persons and 16 welfare cases from organisations.
The GRC also said its temporary shelter is available to accommodate persons whose lives are disrupted due to disasters.
