Fine bowling from Steve Jones and Arjune Kisson lifted Airport Cricket Club to a three-wicket win over Sarfraz XI Cricket Club and a place in the semi-finals of the District of Columbia Metro Cultural Organisation (DCMCO) softball cricket competition.
Batting first at the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Sarfraz XI reached 137-9 off their allotted 15 overs with R. Latiff, 44, and S. Gittens, 35, the principal scorers.
Kissoon 2-19, and Jones 2-37 were the principal wicket-takers.
In reply Airport reached 101- 7 with N Narine top scoring with 21.
Arjune Persaud was the most successful bowler with 2 -17 from three overs.
In another match at the same venue, Wolf Warriors got the better of DeHoop.
Batting first, Wolf Warriors scored 166 with R Karim and A Jairam joint top scorers with 35 each
DeHoop, in reply, were skittled out for 103 runs in 15 overs.
B Gomes, 27, was the principal scorer.
And in the final match at the venue, Country Side lost to Trophy Stall by six wickets.
Batting first, Country Side reached 116 – 8 in their allotted overs with Krishna Deosarran, 42, and Kumar Bishundial, 28, the main scorers.
In reply, Trophy Stall hit of the required runs with useful contributions from Mark Harold, 29, Dindial Ramnauth, 22 and Randy Ketwaru 25.
At the Ogle Sports Complex ground, Regal XI got the better of Success XI by 11 runs.
The semi-finals will take place Saturday at the Malteenoes Sports Club ground while the final is billed for Sunday at the same venue.
In the semi-finals Wolf’s Warriors will oppose Sarfraz XI while Regal XI will play Trophy Stall.
The first semi-final commences at noon with the second match scheduled to start at 2 pm.
