Parika Back man dies after ‘walking into car’

A 71-year-old man was killed after he “walked into the path” of a car on the Leonora, West Coast Demerara public road yesterday.

Dead is Seedat of Parika Back Dam, East Bank Essequibo. Police, in a press release, said that the incident occurred at about 11:15am. The police said that he was struck by motorcar, PGG 4615, owned and driven by Serani Narayan, 49, a nurse attached to the National Insurance Scheme and of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.

The statement said that the vehicle was proceeding east on the northern side of the road when Seedat, who was heading in the said direction “walked into the path of the car”. He was taken to the Leonora Diagnostic Centre but died before receiving medical attention.

Investigations are continuing.
