The youth, who fatally stabbed Charlestown baker, Damon Weatherspoon is still at large while a post-mortem examination yesterday revealed that Weatherspoon died as a result of a single stab wound to the heart.
Weatherspoon succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) on Thursday night after being stabbed by the youth, who has since gone on the run.
Weatherspoon called ‘Iso’, of Adelaide Street, Charlestown died while undergoing emergency surgery at the GPH some time before 9 pm on Thursday.
He had been stabbed after he had an altercation with the youth in an attempt to prevent him from harassing another man. A relative had told this newspaper that following the altercation the youth left and moments later returned on his bicycle, pulled out an ice-pick and stabbed 41-year-old Weatherspoon in his chest. A funeral date has been tentatively set for Friday.
