The Guyana Oil Company (Guyoil) has launched an investigation into reports that fuel sold by two of its service stations over the weekend was contaminated, resulting in some vehicles developing mechanical problems.
An official at the company told Stabroek News yesterday that Guyoil was made aware of the matter when reports were lodged at its service stations at Providence, East Bank Demerara and Sheriff Street yesterday.
When asked if all the company’s service stations were affected by the problem, the official referred all further queries to the company’s managing director Badree Persaud but attempts to reach Persaud yesterday were in vain.
According to reports, a number of persons voiced complaints at the two service stations in question over the weekend. After filling up, they said, their vehicles subsequently developed mechanical problems.
