Dear Editor,
I would like to express my concern about the state of the Albion Cricket Ground. This ground is one of our better sporting venues in Berbice.
Sir, the front half of the ground is without grass at present, with hundreds of pieces of glass bottles stuck in the ground.
Now this is a result of the number of night fairs that are being held there.
There is also the Berbice Expo and Trade Fair, with has become an annual event.
I am calling on the authorities to seek some other venue to host this annual event.
There is a plot of flat land available in Berbice, which could be used for night fairs, the Berbice expo and other events that are damaging the cricket ground.
Sir, there was a cricket match held recently where a number of our National Cricketers were involved, sad to say it was scary to watch the cricketers trying to field the ball on the outfield which is so uneven because of vehicles traversing during these night fairs and other events.
So I am calling on the authorities to look into this matter.
